Buyer Beware
If you have never leased a propane tank before, you may not be aware that Oklahoma State Law says it’s illegal and subject to heavy fines for a different propane company to pump gas into another company's lease tank. Unfortunately, this has created many gimmicks in our industry whereby some companies will offer nearly free leases to customers to lure them in, and then during winter months, they will raise the price of their propane above what the price would be if you owned your tank. Also, unfortunately, since no other propane company can re-fill the tank, it is not uncommon for us to hear first-hand accounts of competitors' lease tank customers being made to wait two to three weeks for gas delivery.
At Steve’s Propane, we are confident enough in our pricing and service that we are just as happy to sell you a tank as we are to lease you one. We would rather have our customers choose to buy from us than be forced to do so. In the long run, whether it is a house, car or propane tank, owning always beats leasing. If your personal circumstances are such that you need to or want to lease a tank from us, your propane price and level of service will be the same as if you owned your tank.
